This is the cake I made as a present for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. It is my first proper cake, and the reason I started making cakes – I thought I would treat myself to a cake making course and make her a cake using the new skills, but got so hooked along the way that now I am completely cake-obsessed! :)

It was a great course – just one day but enough to get me excited so I did quite a lot of research in the couple of months after (I have an obsessive nature so once I get hooked, I am hooked haha). The flowers are a passion too – I did Jaqueline Butter’s course on Craftsy to make those, and figured out how to do the others – not perfect but so much fun!! I told my mummy-in-law she was lucky, and that if she throws away any of the flowers (she is a very tidy person), I would kill her :D.
