A Liberation Commemoration – a CPC Collaborati
Objects found in this concentration camp, rusty keys, broken clocks, broken cups.
Soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz Concentration Camp on 27 January 1945. Thousands of prisoners greeted them as authentic liberators. Soviet soldiers were overwhelmed by the physical state of the prisoners, the number of dead abandoned in open pits by the Nazis, and the wretched conditions.
27 January 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Sugar artists from around the world came together in this Open CPC Collaboration to remember this event, remember those who perished for their race, religion, or sexuality, and remember those who liberated the survivors.
