Saussurea Obvallata, a beautiful Pakistani flower!

Spectacular Pakistan Collaboration is an international sugar art collaboration, hosted by the amazing Faiza Sherjeel.
It was such an honor to be part in it!
Congrats everyone for making such original and beautiful works of art!
I’m sorry I quitted Facebook, so that I cannot give likes and love to everybody there, but you all know I just loved every single piece and I’ll comment here, on CakesDecor.
You can see all the masterpieces here:

About my piece:
I was fascinated by a beautiful Pakistani flower.
Its botanical name is Saussurea Obvallata and it’s a small perennial herb,
growing up to 60 cm high. Its stems are erect, ribbed,
hollow, usually purplish to reddish brown.
My piece is a dummy cake, coated with coloured fondant (brand: Fun Cakes).
I used styrofoam balls coated with fondant, for the center of the flowers, and
wafer paper (brand: Decora) for the petals and the leaves. I used toothpicks
coated with painted wafer paper, for the stems.
I lightly painted the petals with Rainbow Dust colours and the leaves with Wilton gel colours.
