Daughter Melissa’s birthday cake for tomorrow. In Greek the name Melissa means Honeybee, thus the theme. Bubble wrap white chocolate honeycomb, acrylic stand with gumpaste bee topper, melted Isomalt for honey drips.
This is such a cool design, Shirley! Your little bee looks real!
Thank you Sandra. Kind of sad, last birthday cake for Melissa because she and her husband Rick are moving hours away up the coast of California. I know they will be happy there but it makes me wistful.
The Garden Baker
What a fabulous cake, Shirley! Great design and wonderful work!! :)
And I love the “extras” that I learn via cake, like the meaning of “Melissa”.
Thanks so much, glad you liked it.
Beautiful cake Shirley!
How nice, thank you Felis and Ros.
Beautiful, Happy Birthday for your Daughter
June ("Clarky's Cakes")
What a fun design and cake!!
Love this. It is such a fun cake. Totally understand your feelings about being the last cake. My oldest daughter moved away before I started decorating cakes. She is the one who actually encouraged me to start and I have only been able to do one for her.
Thanks Goreti. We have to let our chicks fly away but it isn’t easy.
Thank you Pluympjescakes, Asya, Anka and June. I always appreciate your kind comments.
How wonderful to take the meaning of Melissa and make this gorgeous cake. I have a special love for bees, especially bumble bees. I read a motivational book many many years ago and it started with "aerodynamically a bumble bee shouldn’t fly…yet it does! Which means you can “bee” anything you want to "bee"" 🐝
So that makes Melissa even more special XX
I love that Calli. Thank you!
