Rabindranath Tagore connected millions across our nation through his poetry, songs, stories and dramas. Also known as Gurudev, his writings are deeply rooted in both Indian and Western learning traditions. Apart from fiction, his writings also include portrayals of common people’s lives, literary criticism, philosophy, and social issues. His poetry was felt to convey the peace of the soul in harmony with nature. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913.
