Cake International celebrated 25 years at the recent show in Birmingham. The competition was huge with around 2000 entries. Alongside the individual entries were some group collaboration tables. I was honoured to be part of the winning table ‘Sugar Pirates’ I made this gorgeous treasure chest complete with doubloons, gems and pearls. Each individual link of the chain was hand made from flower paste and painted with a mixture of black and silver lustre. The skull and crossbones lock is set off with edible emerald eyes.
The collaboration was made up of around 60 very talented artists and very deserving of the winning spot.
