I often work into the night, so when I wake to see my sugar flowers in natural light it feels like they’ve come to life. These were created with rice paste, a new medium for me. Beautiful to work with. I was hoping it would be less fragile than my homemade gumpaste when dry, but that is not the case. They’re as delicate as they look, and they suffered some damage as I arranged them this morning. No worries. They reflect my life’s imperfections and vulnerabilities, and I’m totally okay with that.
