A dragon cake for a combined 30th based on the Dragon’s Dawn models which I’ve reproduced in sugar and hope I’ve done them justice. The bottom is a 14" caramel mud cake with caramel IMBC filling and chocolate ganache and the top tier is a 12" white chocolate mud with chocolate ganache filling and a hint of Baileys. I completely underestimated the time it would take to make the scales etc but it was a great learning experience especially in learning the possibility and limitations of sugarpaste
Love this one of yours girl!!! Great work!

That is brilliant, I know what you mean about underestimating time but its worth it :0)

Thanks so much Rae, I love your comments x This was definitely the most challenging modelling I’ve done thus far. The silliest thing I did was putting the wings on first and letting them dry (so I knew where they’d be positioned). Then I was having to put the scales on using a toothpick so I didn’t snap the wings.. it was tedious. Also had to paint the side of his face using a long paint brush as I couldn’t get in close enough. Ah well, you live and learn. Thank you. Fireandice that is lovely thanks so much. I’m glad I’m not the only one that underestimates! I was happy that at least it was sugarpaste so all the extra time came BEFORE it was due
OMG!!! You put the scales on with a toothpick??? You’re amazing! I think I would’ve lost my tiny mind haha! It’s even MORE fabulous than I first thought then ;) xxx
