This cake is based on the love between Krishna and his first wife Rukmani. The eternal tree Parijaat was only found in Indralok and Narad brought its flowers to Krishna who gave them to Rukmani sitting nearby.
Krishna’s second wife, Satyabhama, got jealous and demanded the tree to be planted in her garden. Krishna asked Indra for the tree but he refused, and then ensued a battle between the two. Krishna won and Indra had to give him the tree, but he cursed it not to flower during the day. Krishna was also infuriated by the insensitive demand of Satyabhama, he planted the tree in such a way that its flowers fell in Rukmani’s garden. It is said that since then, the flowers of the tree are always scattered away from it.
