I was contacted by Icing Smiles to create a cake for Emma and the Make A Wish Foundation. The cake is white, pink and purple on the inside and outside, just as she asked for. I can’t post this on my Facebook page yet or her parents will see it :) and I hope to get some more photos from Emma’s parents to share as well….. Emma was born with Aicardi Syndrome and with a Schizencephaly in her brain. She started having seizures at 8 weeks old. After her parents exhausted every possible option for treatment, Emma underwent a Hemispherectomy (a surgery where they removed half of her brain) at 21 months old. Today April 22nd marks the day she will be 2.5 years seizure-free. The surgery saved her life. Her parents said they don’t think she’d be here if they hadn’t done the surgery. She will always have long lasting effects from the surgery and because of her syndrome but for the first time she is living. She is #Emmastrong.
