You know me now. I like to use extra things on my cakes. So when they just told me Tom&Jerry cake and left the design to me, I found myself in my childhoods playground:)
Let’s start from the bottom tier which is all Styrofoam glued together of 4 pieces. Bottom circle, C shaped side walls, middle-inner cylinder and finally the top circle to close the roof. Before closing the roof I painted inside the tunnel darker yellow with food coloring so I didn’t need to cover it all with sugar paste. The base of the dimensions was the rails. Yes the train is moving but I couldn’t upload the video here, probably will learn how to soon. Few tips before going to the next tier; 1-when you work on the measurements, don’t forget to calculate the thickness of the walls when you cover them with sugar paste, 2-when you buy the train make sure it will have enough power to pull the extra weight of your figures. If not, there is still a solution for that. I asked the electrician to add extra batteries on the second compartment and after that found the right balance with the cheese pieces that you see on the first compartment behind Jerry.
And the second tier and the actual cake with very chocolaty layers and cream. I used printed out edible scenes to decorate it.
Fabulous & fun!
