I made pathology specimen-inspired birthday cupcakes this week, for my friend who is a hospital laboratory manager:
- Lemon meringue cupcakes with a lemon curd and limoncello pipette, topped with a baked meringue;
- French vanilla cupcakes with a raspberry and Chambord drizzle and syringe; and
- Devils food cupcakes with a Nutella and milk chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream.

The ‘blood’ separation vials are raspberry jam and gelatine. I’ll leave you to figure out what kind of specimens the cupcakes are intended to represent… In any case, the cupcakes were all delicious and she loved them.
