“Metamorphosis” placed 3rd for cookies at That Takes the Cake, Sugar Art Show & Cake Competition. I have a deep love for butterflies as they hold symbolism for me personally. For these I chose to do the life cycle of the butterfly. I drew out all the stages then transferred them to the cookies. The base was flooded and the decorations were piped with Renshaw Americas royal icing. The leaves and butterfly are Icing Images Wafer Paper. Everything was hand painted using Poppy Paint edible paints. I used piping gel mixed with Creative Cookier pearl sheen to pipe the eggs and to coat the cocoons. The “eaten” leaves were cut with a piping tip and then painted to give them an aged look.
