This was my first attempt at modelling a human figurine. I made it for the Incredible India web competition on Facebook. The model is created to depict the dance form of Bharatanatyam. I have tried to capture the typical saree, jewellery, hair, flowers adorning the hair, the eye make-up, the hand movements etc used through this dance. It’s a traditional and ancient dance form that was performed in temples in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

This dance form today has received worldwide recognition and is one of the few dance forms that is now synonymous with Indian culture.
