Inspiration:
Every year more than 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans. Plastic and other forms of pollution is entering into our marine life and become instruments of torture to unsuspecting ocean dwellers. Its quite an alarming problem and is likely go get worse in coming years.

My inspiration in making “heart of the octopus” cake is to spread awareness around ocean pollution – garbage, most of it is plastic which will take more than 400 years to biodegrade. The octopus is holding the heart seeking compassion, love and care from humankind. There is life out there; we tend to become ignorant, since we do not see it.
Fortunately there is still time and there is hope that oceans and its inhabitants can be protected from destruction by humans, only if we spread awareness, reduce use of plastics, re-use and recycle.

I have used rice crapes in order to shape the cake. chocolate molding and fondant have been used. pottery tools have been used in order to scrape and design the outer structure of the heart .
