This was a cake for a Norwegian grandmother that came to visit her family in Cape Town, it was her 99th Birthday. Up until then she was knitting, so it was the theme along with feminine brooches, Norwegian pattern and her favorite South African strelizia flower. She used to decorate cakes and only in marzipan, so it was another challenge for me :) according to the quality she was used to I had to make my own marzipan and decorate the whole cake only with it. I made an exclusion for the lace – thats sugar lace, all the rest is only marzipan. Really enjoyed making it and it is still one of my favorite cakes :)
