This is our piece for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Awareness collaboration. Like many others I had only heard of Epidermolysis Bullosa as a rare disease of the skin, but knew almost nothing about. As I sat to research for this collaboration I began to learn so much about those affected whose skin is as fragile as a butterflies wings. I read many blogs written by parents and found one common theme; they are some of the bravest and most optimistic people to ever tackle life. They endure pain, needles and bandages as their norm yet they remain strong, resilient and amazing. Our hearts go out to all the children, their parents and the adults who live this daily. We are honored to be a part of raising awareness for EB and hope you enjoy our piece.
Our girl is modeling chocolate and fondant, her wings are hand painted wafer paper. The butterflies and accents are Isomalt.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is often described as, “The worst disease you’ve never heard of.” Those born with Epidermolysis Bullosa are often called “Butterfly Children” because as the analogy goes, their skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly. Imagine each day having to lance blisters and re-bandage a child racked with pain. This year we’ve decided to honor the brave children and adults who deal with this disease every day in the best way we know: through cake artistry. This collaboration has been a labor of love. Please enjoy the works of art and donate generously at the link below to the fight against EB.
