This is my contribution to the Couture Cakers Collaboration 2017, My Inspiration is a haute couture gown created by Mak Tumang for a beauty pageant in the Philippines. It is a traditional national dress called “Mestiza Terno” in the Philippines which was made with basket weave patterns and used pineapple fabric called Pinya (Piña) cloth. The cake is covered in Satin Ice fondant and embellishments using texture mats, rollers and Katy Sue molds. The Figure is hand molded using Saracino modeling paste. I added Sampaguita flowers made from gumpaste, the national flower of the Philippines. The whole cake was hand dusted in Gold, Antique Satin and Super Pearl.
