I have had this yearning to make cakes using techniques and motifs drawn from the rich tradition of surface embellishment and embroidery seen in bridal wear in India .

This cake was a culmination of a dream for me ..from creating my own moulds using custom patterns embroidered by a master craftsman to making native roses and jasmine flowers to accent the cake.

The embroidery techniques you see on the cake are Dabka ( uses metal wire, sequins, beads ) and Gota work ( uses gold or metallic ribbon to create trims and borders )
