I usually don’t post here unless I think I may contribute an idea since the cakes here are phenomenal. This cake started with a silhouette which reminded me of my stepdaughter. I enlarged a picture and also a nice alphabet font, printed it, taped it to cardboard, then taped wax paper over that & piped the picture a week ahead to put on the cake. My intention was to ruffle the entire bottom tier ombre style. My friend was there to help me cut all of the circles and kept saying I think the 1 row is fine and simple. She didn’t want one on the next tier but I insisted. The teal didn’t look great on the top & bottom of the top tier. We tried the same color as the cake & that didn’t work & then I tried the alternating colors & I think it looked perfect. The top tier looked a mess but once we put the photo on it worked. Another cake friend (thanks Pam!) I texted the picture to suggested ruffles on the top to hide my ugly seam & that worked once we alternated the colors. Also got advice via skype from a UK friend. Overall, I’m happy with the cake and thankful for tips from friends.
Very pretty! :-)
