This was my first ever wedding request and the bride and groom had unique ideas of what they wanted for their cakes.

There were 75 cupcakes with purple butterflies (nothing unusual there, really), and another 75 cupcakes with silver hockey sticks on a cupcake stand (and all over the table, too!).

Atop the cupcake stand was the ‘brides’ cake was to have a purple butterflies on wires bursting from a fondant gift’ bow. The tricky bit was incorporating the hockey sticks into the same cake’s design as the butterflies, but I hope you agree that this ‘worked’ round the side, with the fondant ribbon being overlay with hockey sticks and topped with butterflies.

The groom wanted a separate cake adorned with the model he supplied and I finished the design off with silver hearts and fondant ribbon to keep it in the theme. This cake was on the food table, separate from the Bride’s cakes…..

It was very nerve wracking to have such responsibility as someone who is a hobby baker……. and also a guest at the wedding, so there was no-where no hide. Haha!
