This cake was made for Cake Central Magazine’s July 2016 watercolor issue (vol 7 issue 2). They sent me an inspiration image that was a dark, dreary (dare I say unattractive?) watercolor by the English artist Turner of the Houses of Parliament on fire, at night (it is the last image I uploaded). I refused to make a dark dreary cake, so I used the inspiration more loosely, echoing the colors and the light/shadows, the visible brush strokes and the reflection of the water in the hand painted pair of swans and the surrounding floral wreath.
