I always have SUCH a hard time with boys’ cakes, to the point where I’d rather tell a client to go elsewhere. I can’t stick a flower on a cake, I panic a bit. But the client for this cake is one I’ve had for years, I made her wedding cake a few years ago and she’s been coming to me ever since, so I really didn’t want to tell her no.
On this cake I mixed hand-painted elements (all around the side of the cake) with fondant cut-outs, and ended up with a boys cake I actually love to the point that I’d be happy to do more of these. :)
