After covering the red cake twice over, I learnt two things:
1. Don’t pipe cake lace directly onto sugarpaste, it makes a yucky gooey mess
2. Squires Kitchen red sugarpaste rocks! It’s not sticky to handle, it’s not so soft that it tears as you put it on and is impossible to smooth, it doesn’t just soak up the cornflower you roll it on and stays lovely and clean
The web on the hand was made by piping silver cake lace onto the back on the cake mat. The lines on the glove were individually cut and glued pieces of this piped cake lace (it seemed like a good idea at the time!). I textured the top cake using a (new) delicates laundry wash bag ;o)
