This was a surprise cake from a mother to her daughter. How fun that I got to be a part of it! The sorting hat is made from rice krispie treats, ganached, then covered in fondant and airbrushed. The snitch is fondant with details added using my sugar shapers and extruder. I colored in gold with my airbrush and then dry dusted with rolkem dust. I airbrushed the buttercream cake as well to give it an antique feel which I felt matched the harry potter theme better. The letters were hand cut from fondant using a scalpel and hand painted gold.
