This was my other entry for the Austin Texas, That Takes there Cake , cake competition. A Jack Kirby themed coloring book styled cake complete with a Jack Kirby topper. For those not familiar Jack Kirby was the original illustrator/artist for Marvel Comics illustrating such classics as the Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Submariner and so many more. Jacks’ style was so unique with that in your face perspective and the heavy bold black lines and pop in your face colors! This piece was based on his commissioned piece for the NFL depicting what Superbowl 50 would look like. The cake is all hand drawn in edible markers and then painted with a mixture of gel, tints and americolor white to give it those bold bright colors! Complete with a sculpted modeling chocolate caricature of the artist himself surrounded by wafer paper comic book pages!
