This was the First Communion Cake for my oldest daughter few years ago. The figures on top including the chalice were made in pastillage. The cake was covered in fondant. The inside was a raisin, pecan rum cake. There was no need of a filling, the cake was sooo moist and delicious, almost like a pound cake. Then I used dulce the leche to attach the fondant to the cake. For those not familiar with Latin, the message on top says “I am the Bread of Life”.
