My brief was butterflies and white. Keeping the white prominent whilst at the same time being mindful that this was a birthday cake I decided to introduce some pearl vanilla mist petal dust into the design. My original thought was to use champagne but I did not think that it gave enough of a contrast to offset the cake lace. The textured panels on the base cake were created using a lace mat as an embosser.
