Jolly Sailor Bold - Sugar Skull Collaboration 2015

My Contribution to the @The Sugar Skull Bakers Collaboration this year 2015

The Sugar Skull Bakers – a group collaboration of cookie, sugar, cake decorators, and artists from around the world. For its third year the group brings its tradition to life with a beautifully curated collection of sweets honoring the 3500 year old Mexican holiday – Dia de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead.
Our group, founded in 2013, by cake artist Berenice “Berry” Rabago, of Berry’s Sweet Studio and graphic artist Yuki Navarro, in Mexico City, MX. Each member was invited to join based on their admiration for calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls).

“This is my idea just to have a lot of bakers make a Dia de los muertos cake to share on 1st of November, DAY OF THE DEAD!” It’s just a fun page … no hurry, no worries just SKULLS. No blood, no gore. It’s to remember and to celebrate our beloved.” Berry Rabago

The name of my Cake is Jolly Sailor Bold…
Based off Pirates of the Caribbean:
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering Gold
There is nothing can console me
But my Jolly Sailor Bold.

On Stranger Tides a story of man eating mermaids who are beautiful women on land and deadly fanged creatures in the water.
The Lyrics of the original song I believe are by John Ashton – Real Sailor-Songs in the 1891 collection.
