This is my contribution to the “A Walk on the Wild side” collabo which showcase EDIBLE sugar shoes created by 36 talented artists from around the world.
I was inspired by the lotus shoes worn by Chinese women with bound feet at the start of 18th century. I was indeed intrigued by the delicate craftsmanship that goes into making the shoes which measured no more than 4 inches.
My shoe is all fondant and made by hand without using any former as I had none. The bas-relief heel is made to look like carved ivory. Gold beads, sugar lace and royal icing brush embroidery were added to make it more exquisite.
