Tie dye/disco cake

Tie dye/disco cake

My client’s little girl was having a roller skating party for her birthday. She could not decide if she wanted a tie dye theme or a disco theme. So, I incorporated both. This tie dye cake has a pair of roller skates on top with a disco ball that lights up and flashes. I used wafer paper for the tie dye pattern. It was the first time I have used wafer paper which, was a mistake. The texture was kinda weird. Next time I will use icing/frosting sheets. (Does anyone know if that would work better?) The roller skates are made form homemade fondant and tmc. The disco ball is made from a round styrofoam ball, fondant and 2 flashing LED lights. (1 on the top & 1- on the bottom) I wanted to make the disco ball silver but, it showed every inperfection and it looked dirty when it lit up.

So cute! I love the roller skates, and the tie dyed effect! The lighted disco ball is such a nice added touch!
