Red Rosette Pirate Cake

So, I used the frosting that Krazy Kool Cakes & Designs by Laura E. Varela-Wong…I must say the “stiff” frosting really holds it’s shape and you can still pipe through the piping bag…

I had to use a lot of RED…the color is great.

For the coins – I found this cross pendent with detail…and after using a round cutter…pressed the pendent on it…instant gold doubloons…

I used the Wilton Barque Fondant mold and took the pearl string from there..

I made the crossbones by hand…just make sure you roll the gum paste in a log…then divide in half…so each bone is = in size…then pull 4 small balls…and push two on each end of the bone…work it in…and shape it..and then when you like the shape…press them together in a “X”…so they dry that way…add some little needle holds…etc…

The octopus was fun…just the head and tentacles…

The treasure map…I think you can figure it out…

The skull and crossbones flag on the front…I found this wood cut-out at Michael’s for a $1.20…so I just pressed it into a piece of gum paste…cut it out…and there was a slight imprint …so I used my pin tool and used dots to draw it out…and then painted it when it was dry

I saw the anchor and literally made that piece by piece and used frosting to put it on the cake…
