(1st let me apologize…for the photos of my last 2 tree cakes…I thought I had too much light when I took the photos…my camera was dying…)
…I also thought maybe I needed glasses…that’s whole another topic :)
Here is a new camera…and look at the detail…I love these tree cakes…I will be adding 3 more cakes…these are “monster size”… 10.5" rounds 6" tall… (flipping these for the upside down ganache method…oh boy!)
Organic Vanilla with Vanilla Chocolate Ganache and homemade marshmallow fondant
I don’t normally buy those videos that are sold on-line…this is a hobby for me…and I have learned some much from Youtube and tutorials on blogs that are just the photo of each step with some detail under each pic…
I saw this video by Liz Marek on-sale on Udemy…and it’s for the birch cake…so I went ahead and got it…this was worth it…I loved how this one turned out :)
I used ivory colored fondant for the top and along the bottom edge…
I then used grey colored fondant for the bark…with a black and then white wash of food coloring… Other then the fact this cake was so DARN heavy…this was not a hard cake to do at all…and the final look…wow…(at least I think so)…
I made the daisies 2 weeks ahead of time…in multiple colors…because I had this theme in my head…not sure how it would play out…
The little sign is from those $1.50 stacked bins at Michael’s…so these plant stake signs and knew what they would be used for…
The cake is in the delivery box…it’s a 14" cube and works b/c the board is 12" round…
I don’t have the photo here…I did carve initials in the cake on the other side with a few knots…so easy to do :)
