I made this cake way back in Feb 2009…I had just started experimenting with cake recipes and fondant …so this was a practice cake for home. This was my second recipe experiment with traditional fruit cake and it’s the one I use till date…I wasn’t happy with the first one so I made some changes and this one worked. Since I was also experimenting with fondant, I had just come across Lorraine Mckay’s free dog tutorial and tried my hand at that…. and since I loved rainbow colors and also wanted to experiment with mixing colors into fondant, I made the rainbow color flowers.

It so happened that my adorable boxer dog Cindy passed away on the day I baked the cake…and unfortunately, I didn’t go with her for her last walk because the cake was almost done and I needed to watch it :( So, since I had a doggy figurine and the cake was baked on that day, I named it Cindy.
