Lab bench cake created for Fisher Scientific’s 2014 customer appreciation day. After seeing the cake I did the previous year they were expecting a bit more of me this time around so I had to try & up my game a bit….lol
The pH meter, pipetter & flask are all made of krispie treats covered in fondant. The pipet is fondant. The beaker, safety glasses & pH electrode are all crafted from isomalt. This was my first time using isomalt but I eventually got the hang of it & was happy with the end results. I even made my own beaker mold as funny thing, nobody seems to have them for sale ;-) The “wire” on the pH meter is black shoestring licorice.
The green in the beaker is colored water. I added it to the beaker just before we cut the cake for an added “wow” factor & everyone was super impressed by it.
Sugar paper logos surround the cake which is half cream cheese pound cake & half cocoa banana cake iced with buttercream frosting.
