So, our dear friend who was going to make our baby cake for our “Military Baby Shower”…had to cancel…so I thought I would give it a try. I didn’t make the cake that my friend was going to make (she is a pro and has 6 years of experience – it was going to be a diaper bag with all the items)…so I saw this Youtube video by Montreal Confections (I just happen to see it)…and thought…I can’t do that…I have no time to get the cake pans – how I can get that in one day?
So, I was at Michael’s (had no time to drive to Gardena, CA – love the Parrish Magic USA cake pans…) and found the pans I needed…so since they were there…it was a sign from above to try and make this cake.
Petal pan set…now the 15" says to use 21 1/3 cups batter…that’s wrong. Luckily I scooped it out b/c I knew it would rise way too much. I should have used the 12"…as I had to carve a lot and didn’t realize I needed more off…when I watched the video again…so that’s why the dress doesn’t fall from the belly…but I had a few hours to get it to the event…so it had to stay as it was…
I found some great baby item tutorials on Pinterest…which were easy to make b/c you use basic cutters and I had that…I really hate buying speciality items…b/c when you need it on the spot…it’s impossible.
This is the largest cake I have made to date…
I really love the “mint” color…we throw a shower for pregnant moms from Camp Pendleton…
