This is the first time I have done a cake where the cakes didnt stack on top of each other. But my client gave me free reign to do what I wanted. So I figured for her cheerleading daughter we should do something a little different. The bottom tier is Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Buttercream. And the suspended tier is Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream. The structure of the cake is a 1/4 in plywood board for the base with a threaded rod screwed into it. I stacked the bottom cake on the rod and then screwed a bolt down to the level I wanted the top tier to be at. and added a washer. Next I used another piece of plywood for the top tier and added another bolt and added the cake.
Not bad for my first suspended cake.
