This cake was made for the Sweet Times in the Rockies Sugar Art Show. Only the small ballerina cake made the trip, but she took a blue ribbon on the Advanced Celebration cakes division as well winning the Best in Division. Here is the whole piece together. The bird is covered in wafer paper, cake lace and fondant. The ballerina is modeled in gumpaste over wire. The story panels on the sides of the small cake are hand painted with vodka and petal dust. There are 3 paintings, representing the beginning, middle and end of the story. The story is an old Russian fairytale made into a ballet in 1905 by Igor Stravinky
