This is the first time I have tried the billowing technique. I made this cake for my Mom’s birthday. The bottom tier had the billows and buttons that I made with a mold and then hand painted with gold and copper. The top tier is covered in roses, leave and buttons. I covered it in fondant and then created stripes at the bottom with a little combinations of gold, copper, and silver pearl dust. Then went crazy putting on all the molded pieces I created. For the fondant, I used Wilton fondant and combined it with my white chocolate clay.

@horsecountrycakes: I just baked the cake using a ball pan. Then covered in fondant very carefully, half at a time. Then sat it upright and stuck on all the molded roses and buttons one at a time. Used leaves as fillers and then some edible pearls to fill in small spots that still showed up. It took a ton of time. Two nights straight of staying up until 1:30 in the morning, then back up at 6AM. It was definately a labor of love.
