Dia Los Muertos Mexican Piano

Dia Los Muertos Mexican Piano

Dia de Muertos or the “Day of the Dead” is a Mexican religious holiday to celebrate the memory of our dearly departed, it has grown in popularity over the years. One of its icons is the sugar skull, the claverita, made with sugar and decorated with flowers, it’s where we get our name, so this is how we became Sugar Skull Bakers, a combination of the passion of 120+ bakers and cake designers from around the world.

My piece inspired by the Mexican piano which I saw outside the Mexican restaurant on the Strand in Tauranga , New Zealand. I took few photos of the original piano and decided to replicate it in cake and sugar! It represents hot Mexican spirit, happy, colorful and spicy!

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

Gulnaz, this cake totally blew my mind, it was so different from all your work but reminded me of Anton’s piano, you found such a cool way to incorporate your wonderful hibiscus flowers, day of the dead theme and your beloved instrument :)

Love your brilliant concept to do a piano for the SSB collab! Amazing colours as usual and clever use of your hibiscus. I’m SO glad you decided to share it with the collab and on CD =D
