Lego chima Castle Cake

Lego chima Castle Cake
Lego chima Castle Cake

for a special little boy that has been in my sons life for almost 8 years. I knew I needed to make him a cake even more special then those the year before. He asked for Lego chima cake and unfortunately, my son isn’t into that show so I knew nothing about it. I had to use the power of google and came up with these shots. I also have never used Modeling chocolate so this was a first in a lot of ways for me. The 1st photo is of the cake at the party.. The second is a group of photos. the sketch I came up with, the way I made the cake was different then what I expected to do. I actually made all 4 tiers.. but instead of making the three tiers with 2 cakes torted into 4 layers, I kept one layer off and used those for the rocks to attach to the side of the cake. The reason I did this and didn’t sculpt the cake out was because I had made spice cake for him and wasn’t sure what the stability for the spice cake would be. So each tier is a full tier without being sculpted.. it is the extra cake balled up together that makes this shape. I then made 6 batches of modeling chocolate ( my first tries) and only 2 were salvageable… lol. I then rolled out the grey mc and covered the entire cake in it.. being able to curve and mold the cake into rocks along side a mountain. I also had enough to sculpt the floating mountain up top. ( I have no idea what these are called in the show but that little boy could tell you all about it). I knew that mountain had sculpted heads with water pouring down so I sculpted as many heads as I could. using blue flondant, colored blue piping gel I made the water cascading downwards towards the lower mountain. And unfortunately I did not have enough modeling chocolate left over to make bushes, trees vines etc… so I had to pipe those on- which i’m not to thrilled about. I also used lauren kitchens craftsy video to help me with the modeling chocolate and the gold wall.. which is mc but it is also buttercream wipped off the wall to make it more depth…and dramatic
