I’ve seen cakes done with this effect for some time now on various websites etc., so when I was asked to donate a cake for charity by a friend, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out for myself. Obviously, being me, I didn’t go for the pastel shades that I’d been seeing so much, but instead graduated from black to purple. The graduation effect is know as “ombre” which (with an added accent on the e) is French for “shaded”. Quite time consuming but also rewarding when I got finished, and the lucky raffle winner was very pleased!
