My friend asked me if I would make her Scottish husbands 40th birthday cake.. With a football, Scottish & Irish flags, sonethimg from his favourite team, his iPhone & of course the birthday boy himself! There was no mention initially of the kilt but if you can’t experiment on a friends cake when can u? I decided to attempt to cover the board in his family tartan and use a cut out of that for his own kilt.. The board took 3 hours and it was a mixture of airbrushing and adding squares & lines of sugarpaste.. It was a total experiment but it worked! I soon realised I couldn’t use this massive tartan for his kilt so had to make it again this time in miniature & minus any airbrushing… Barry loved the cake :-)
