I was asked to make a cake for a bat mitzvah celebration based on this very sad book and now movie. The theme was really based on the original book cover which I incorporated into the design. There are two cubes, and the top one is just a little bit bigger than the bottom to allow the black cloud to overhang the white as it does on the book cover. Each of the 4 sides of the cake had a different saying, including a quote from the book on one side, and the book’s title on another. Much more interesting than making a book cake for this party, which wasn’t about the book but rather celebrating a girl’s coming of age.
