Love this….Can you give me a quick run down on how you made this?
Sure. I baked a 12×15 then cut & stacked it. I kind of winged it because I first tried do do 3 pieces of 5" but it wasn’t tall enough so I trimmed to 3" and used a total of four 2" layers. In the end I think it was 11.5 L x 3 D x 8 H. I did have some scrap.
I carved the sides into a V to get the folded bag look. Then I just did panels of fondant on top and sides. I left a little “lip” of red just over the top edge. The logo was cut out of gumpaste. The tissue was fondant rolled paper thin cut into rough triangles and just folded & arranged on top. I used paper towels to hold some of them up until they dried. The handles were gumpaste with BBQ skewers in them just shoved in the cake.
This litterally was a last minute cake Easter Morning to give to my mom as a late birthday cake since our whole family was together. I think the total carving/decorating time was about 1 1/2 hours. Overall it was a fairly large cake and pretty easy.
I hope this makes sense. Good luck!

Hi Michele, Thank you so much for all of the information. Did you put dowels in? WoW you said it only took 1 1/2 hours. This will take days for me. Once again thank you for your help.
Sorry, I didnt’ realize you posted a 2nd question. Yes, I used dowels but only because I put it together so fast that when I cut it to stack I didn’t measure and cut evenly. Once it was stacked, I noticed it was leaning a bit so I put in two dowels and tapped them into the board. If I had stacked them with more care, it wouldn’t have needed it.
