This was my very first attempt at a ball cake – and without a ball pan! Base is RKT; cake is chocolate with chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant. Wings are fondant rather than gumpaste because (Surprise!!) I was out of gumpaste. Gold spray with hand-painted lettering.

I was very disappointed in the base covering, but it was a last minute decision and definitely better than not covering it. The clients didn’t even notice. Really, not at all. (Lovely people!)

The kids had a blast posing with the cake, including this silly one where they all tried to grab the snitch!
