The pros recommend it on their tutorials. Like Nicholas Lodge and Alan Dunn.
Interestingly when I moved to Florida and made sugar flowers I didn’t need to do anything to them at all. The air conditioner in the house kept the flowers dry and in good shape for over a year. I had several of mine in little vases and they were perfect.
