I would not have anything touching the cake in the fridge or outside of the fridge, if you have one of those cake storage containers, you can put it in that but, then you will have some sweating when you take it out. But don’t worry, it’s not that bad and it passes, you cake will be fine as long as it doesn’t go from super cold to a tropical heat … Why a cardboard box is the best is because it draws moisture to itself, so instead moisture getting on your cake, it gets to the cardboard. A lot of people are scared of sweating cakes but it passes, just keep your house cool and let it adjust before you serve it :)
