re: How to I make skin color fondant

I’m a hobby baker Amber. I also cannot afford to buy a lot of colours and dusts around. I have always bought my lustre dust at Michael’s with a 50% coupon. I went in several times to use it. Bought 2 at one time. But if you stick just ivory/white lustre dust, you can use it in any colour of fondant. As for colour dust, you can also purchase at Michael’s with 50% , but they have very limited colors. A decorator friend suggested using coloured artists chalk. Non toxic and can be used on gumpaste flowers or on fondant cakes. It is expensive. I bought I think the box of 16 varied colours, $40 something dollars. Also used my 50% coupon to purchase this, so a little over $20. You use so little, you will have the box for a long time. To use them you then shave off the amount from a piece of your chalk, place in a small bowl, preferably glass or metal. I then use my metal ball tool and crunch it till it becomes a powder. If you don’t have a metal ball tool, the back of a kitchen knife will do. Warning….Your hands will get coloured too if you don’t wear gloves. Wa La….instant dusting powder. Hope this info helps. :o)
