I insert my wires into coffee stirrers and they work fine. I wrap them tightly with floral tape so they fit snugly into the stirrer and won’t move. I don’t like to insert the taped flowers directly into the cake because some people may be allergic to the glue or to the actual tape – besides, floral tape is sticky and I don’t like the idea of it touching the actual cake.
